Awards

Recognition where due

IRSE Australasia encourages outstanding performance by individuals.  We have a number of awards to recognise their achievement.


Chairman's Award

Awarded to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the work of IRSE Australasia.

This prestigious award is presented at the AusRAIL Gala Dinner each year.

The 2009 Chairman's Award was presented to Associate Professor Ken Kwong (seen accepting the award on the right).

The 2008 Chairman's Award was presented to Malcolm Menadue.

The 2007 Chairman's Award was presented to Howard Revell.

Byles & Calcutt Award

For the best paper presented at a Technical Meeting by a younger member of IRSE Australasia.

The 2009/2010 Byles & Calcutt award was won by Noel Burton of Invensys for his paper "How many interlockings does it take to signal a freight train?"

This paper was presented at the November 2009 Technical Meeting in Sydney.

No award was made in 2008/2009.

Shining Light Award

Highest grades achieved in the CQU Railway Signalling and Telecommunications Course.

The 2009 winners of the Shining Light Award are:

Jason Cheah of Ansaldo-STS and Brett Cox of Invensys


The 2008 winner is Michael Davis.  The award was presented by Peter Symons at the Sydney meeting on 23 April 2009.

Semaphore Award

Outstanding performance by an Australasian member in the IRSE Exam.

The 2008 winner is Scott Caporn.

There was no award in 2009.
