Creating the 21st Century Transport System of Choice

RTSA NSW Chapter Eminent Speaker Tour - Professor Andrew McNaughton

Following CORE2010, the Conference on Rail Engineering, which is being held in Wellington NZ this year, a speaking tour is undertaken by a Keynote Speaker. This year, the Eminent Speaker is Professor Andrew McNaughton - Chief Engineer of High Speed Two Ltd and Special Professor of Rail Engineering at Nottingham University UK.

In Andrew’s presentation in Sydney, he will explore the market-led demands of the 21st Century for transport paying particular attention to

· long distance

· regional

· urban passenger mobility

· freight logistics and

· the way we will need to develop rail to become the most successful  transport mode of the future.

As well as the technology, he will look at the role of the operators and maintainers of the future system and the special place and responsibility of Rail Engineers in the new order.
