Technical Papers
IRSE Australasia ensures that information is readily accessible to members. For some years Bob Taaffe has been collecting and scanning the papers presented at Technical Meetings from 1947 to now. Members have access to these papers and can download the full papers. You can search the text of the abstracts of these papers either within this site or through your favourite search engine.
IRSE News
IRSE News is sent to all members almost every month. It contains technical articles, advance copies of the technical papers read in London and interesting news about members. Australasian news is included in most issues.
The full set of IRSE News from Issue 1 to 130 has been scanned and is freely available on this web site. Please contact the secretary if you want a copy.
Recent issues of the IRSE News are available only to members and can be accessed by logging into the IRSE Headquarters (UK) site www.irse.org.
IRSE Library
IRSE members are able to use the IET library facilities at Savoy Place in London. The library covers all aspects of electrical and electronics engineering, including telecommunications, signalling and control engineering. Over 3,000 books are added to stock annually and the Library currently subscribes to over 1,100 periodical titles. Most IRSE titles are kept in the library.
International Technical Committee
The International Technical Committee (ITC) is an international "think tank" of IRSE members who consider and write about developments in the rail systems engineering.
The ITC has around twenty members, drawn from countries throughout the world. The Australasian member is Peter Symons.
ITC reports are generally about current developments and have a relatively short "shelf life". The earlier printed reports are available for purchase from the IRSE UK (only) but the more recent reports may be made available to IRSE Australasia members through this site.
